Logging is a profession built on skill, safety, and a deep respect for the forest. As a cornerstone of the natural resources economy, the work of logging professionals is essential and demands a high level of expertise and dedication to sustainable practices. This year, the Certified Logging Professionals (CLP) program is proud to announce the recipients of the 2025 Certified Logging Professionals of the Year awards, recognizing the select individuals who exemplify the highest standards of excellence across all facets of the industry, from cutting-edge mechanical operations to outstanding supervision and environmental stewardship. Their commitment raises the bar for the entire profession.

The CLP of the Year in the Convention Category has been awarded to Bill Taylor. Over the years, Bill's harvesting work has been exceptional, and he has an impressive, perfect safety record, making him an exemplary CLP. His diligence in ensuring full compliance with environmental laws, combined with his close collaboration with professional foresters, truly sets Bill apart. His nomination specifically noted Bill's efforts in mentoring a new logger, helping them quickly grasp both the business aspects of logging and the high-quality on-the-ground work that is expected. His guidance and mentorship are helping to ensure that this new logger has a long and successful future in the woods, while also contributing to the continued prosperity of this legacy industry in Maine.

Clint Morrow’s extensive experience as a mechanical logger and his instrumental role as the primary processor operator in Baxter State Park’s Scientific Forest Management Area (SFMA) earned him this year’s designation as CLP of the Year in the Mechanical category. For over two decades, he has been key to the success of harvest operations in this unique area, expertly executing diverse prescriptions to meet the goals of the SFMA.
In addition to Clint's extensive experience, his willingness to adopt new methods and his dedication to safety and high standards have established him as a leader in the logging industry. His professionalism and dedication truly embody the values of the CLP program.

The award for CLP of the Year in the supervisor/contractor category goes to Glenn Collin, whose exceptional hands-on leadership and unwavering work ethic have made him an indispensable asset to his company and crew. Glenn is recognized as the embodiment of a devoted supervisor, demonstrating unparalleled commitment by consistently being available to his team, taking calls at all hours, seven days a week, to ensure operations run without a hitch. What truly sets him apart is his versatility: he is an all-around worker who actively contributes to the success of the harvest by operating and moving equipment, walking properties, and lending a hand wherever needed. Above all, Glenn is celebrated for his success in maintaining a crucial balance between high productivity and non-negotiable safety standards, ensuring his crew works efficiently while prioritizing both worker well-being and the careful stewardship of forest land.
Bill, Clint, and Glenn’s collective achievements, from impeccable safety records and dedicated mentorship to precision harvesting in sensitive ecosystems and tireless, hands-on supervision, underscore the essential value of the Certified Logging Professional program. We invite everyone to join us in celebrating their achievements and welcoming 2025 program graduates into our professional community at the CLP Annual Banquet on December 5th at Jeff’s Catering in Hermon, Maine.
