For Certified Logging Professionals (CLPs), the commitment to safety and excellence is already part of your operating standard. The challenge lies in managing the cost of required training to maintain that status. The Maine Workforce Development Compact (MWDC) is a critical funding tool that directly supports your continued certification.
The MWDC is a grant program funded through the Harold Alfond Center for the Advancement of Maine's Workforce. The Compact's goal is to enhance the skills of Maine's frontline workers by providing financial assistance for professional development, specifically covering essential, industry-recognized training, such as the CLP program.
The most direct and immediate benefit is the availability of a significant subsidy:
This grant will cover 50% of the approved training costs up to $1,200 per year, significantly reducing your out-of-pocket expenses.
For CLP participants, the MWDC provides a streamlined method to fund either your initial certification or your annual recertification fees and training requirements.
The CLP program has worked directly with the MWDC to simplify the process, embedding the funding mechanism directly into the registration process:
Direct Discount at Registration: The CLP program offers a direct discount on certification and recertification fees, 50% off for loggers who "Opt-in" to the Maine Workforce Development Compact at the time of RSVP. This immediately reduces the cost to the participant.
The only additional requirement is that you provide your date of birth and a valid email address. By “Opting-In” to the MWDC, you are tapping into a resource that is designed to help you maintain the highest operational standards at a significantly reduced cost.
